A brief history
The DCR token is the focal point of the Decred ecosystem, with each token representing a voting right, with a maximum cap of 21 million DCR coins available for mining. Using the PoW/PoS model explained above, once blocks are settled and added to the blockchain, the block reward is issued to the parties involved as follows: 60% to miners, 30% to stakers, and 10% to a treasury. Once token holders receive DCR rewards, they then lock their tokens on the platform, upon which they receive voting tickets. Users can then submit their tickets and after a period of maturation, become a voter.
